Department of Social Sciences

M.S.W ( Master's Programme in Social Work)

M.S.W. Social Work programme provides specialized training in four fields offered by the following departments :

  1. Department of Personnal Management and Industrial Relations
  2. Departments of Community Development (Rural & Urban)
  3. Departments of Medical and psychiatric Social Work
  4. Department of Family & Child Welfare

APPLICATION

Application for admission can be had from the office of Madurai Institute of Social Sciences, Alagar Kovil Road, Madurai - 2 on payment of Rs. 100/- in person or Rs.130/- by money order or by demand draft in fovour of the Principal, Madurai Institute of Social Sciences, Madurai - 625 002. Any other mode of payment will not be accepted.

ELIGIBILITY

Candidates who have finished their U.G courses of Madurai Kamaraj University or an examination of any other university considered as equivalent thereto are eligible to purse this course, subject to the acceptance by and recognition from the university.

Reserved seats for SC / ST / BC / MBC candidates are to be made as per the existing rules of the government / university.

SELECTION PROCEDURE

An entrance test consisting of Descriptive type questions bases on the subject concerned and objective type questions from general Intelligence, Arithmetic, Resoning, General Knowledge, Group discussion and personal interview will be conducted. The final selection will be made provisionally based on the over-all performance in the university examination and entrance test.

Candidates will select based on the merit list.

Duration
The M.S.W., a two year full time Regular course consisting of four semesters with four weeks of Summer Placement after the completion of second semester and six weeks of Block Placement after completion of the fourth semester.
